Marc Atkinson (of Unreel Drumbook fame)has transcribed most of this album and his charts are pretty much spot on. If I'm not mistaken, he can play a good deal of that stuff too.

If he transcribes the fills, reading some of that might be like staring at a huge tightly knit spider web. NTM the writer's cramp & migrane he musta got.

You crack me up! You might be able to contact Marc about the transcriptions. Maybe he will put one up for you guys to check out. I've seen 555 and it is very scary. Marc is a sick puppy. He actually thrives on transcribing this kind of stuff. It is like playing video games for him.

I think Marc is holding on to them for the moment in hopes of a possible book featuring the drummers of Zappa, he's been talking with the family trust about it for awhile.
I put Marc in touch with Mike Keneally to have him overlook a few things and see what his thoughts were.
Have to wait and see where it all leads.

I played a gig on the smaller stage at a popular festival in FL a couple years back, & Wayne Newton played the main stage...if I'd've only known [ATT]...;c)

Caught Newton on VHS on Leno a month or 2 ago...nice playing by Marc.
Big-band-ish. Perfect for the tune.
Makes me wanna find that tape amidst the pile of VHS's that it's in... [img]eek.gif[/img]

Yo Randall,
I don't think anything is going to happen with the drummers of Zappa book. Gail Zappa would have to sign off on it and she is notoriously skiddish about these kind of things. I hope it comes out in some form or another though.
